Hi
I recently completed a manuscript for a children's fantasy book which is roughly 14, 700 words.

I would like your advice on the steps i need to take in order to submit my manuscript or any other possile avenues available.

Regards,

There are plenty of stickies on the forum with lots of information on this, so I'd suggest starting there. Once you get a feel for everything, you can ask more specific questions and we can be more helpful. There's just too much stuff to go over :)

Basic overview though:

First step would be to polish and revise and make sure the book is the best it can be. After that, you'd write a query and polish that until it shines. Then you research agents, find the ones that publish work similar to your genre and market, then start submitting.

Hi, santa, and welcome to AW!

santa:

Depending on the age bracket your book is aimed at, 14,700 words sounds v. short to me. I'd definitely recommend polishing the manuscript and perhaps sharing some of it in the SYW Forums so that people can give you some feedback.

14,700 words is just right for an early middle grade story. Welcome to AW, santa! Like Danthia said, you can find out everything you want to know on this forum. I ditto the suggestion to post in the SYW (share your work) forum once your story is polished. Getting feedback, both good and bad, is invaluable! Good luck.

I've found this book to be extremely helpful. The writer worked as an editor for years and continues to stay involved in the industry so he knows what he's talking about.
