Hi all,

I don't write for children, mainly because I don't have any, but a friend of mine just came out with her first tweener book (9-12) and it's fabulous! It's a hard back from Random House and the title is: "I So Don't Do Mysteries" by Barrie Summy. I bought the book (of course - she's my friend) and figured I'd suffer through reading it. WELL, it was wonderful! I laughed so hard in places I had tears in my eyes.

I'm only mentioned it because she seemed to get it right.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it so much! Maybe this will get you interested in reading other such books, and you may even discover other authors too who "get it right"! I think a lot of people dismiss children's books as being, well, for children. But as a fan of the genre, not just as an author but as a reader, I can definitely agree with you that Middle Grade (which is the technical term for that "tweener" age group to which you referred) novels can be some of the funniest, most clever and insightful books out there.

Oh and please offer my congrats to your friend!
