Author drops cash from airplane to promote book

How's that for a marketing plan?! I don't know what book he wrote but I can't imagine this would cause people to buy it.

I know! Doesn't it just make you want to?! LOL In the press he got from that stunt, they never mentioned the name of his book once, unless I missed it. I read on FoxNews that it's a book about business motivation. The bills that were dropped (100 million ruplah - about $10,600) were in notes ranging from $.11 to $.53 cents. (It was in Indonesia.)

It really is a stupid stunt to pull because of the risk of injuries and fighting that occur. People were taking money out of the hands of children. To me, the best part of the video was when a woman and her two children (I'm supposing) held up the single note they grabbed and looked pleased and content.

There's a unwritten rule in marketing: Whatever doesn't build the brand kills the brand. By pulling such a silly stunt, it makes me think the work wouldn't be good enough to sell on its own with a supportive marketing strategy.

I watched that video, and it's like the end of each episode of The Crystal Maze - you know, where the competitors would try to grab as many "gold" notes as they could while avoiding the silver ones.

I have no idea what the author's book is, and if I knew, that would make no difference as to my Wanted Books list.

The stunt was to promote Tung's book "Marketing Revolution," said Fajar Ramdani, the media coordinator for the event.
