Ok, so we all know being a writer is tough. We all have these great ideas, but it takes so much damn effort to get them all on paper. And even more to have a shot at getting them published.
Here's my situation. I submitted a ton of new queries Thursday night. Since then, I've been swamped with partial requests (and a few fulls). But now I'm getting sort of depressed. I'm constantly thinking, "They won't like this, and here's a rule I broke, and here they'll probably think I have too much narrative, and there too much of an info dump, yada yada." All I want is for ONE agent to get where I'm going, GET the character, GET the book overall, AND have faith that he/she can sell it. And yet, the more I think about it, the less faith I have...
So, enough of a rant. We all know the long odds. We all know Stephen King's first three novels weren't published. And that publisher's reject 99% of the stuff that's submitted to them. Instead of hearing about all that, I want to hear some encouraging stories. I think a lot of people here could use em, whether they're writing their first chapter or their last, on their nth revision or writing up their query. Or tearing their hair out waiting. Sooooo. Ready, set, go!
