What does "soon" in literary world mean?

I know this world moves slow. But pub said, he'd be in touch soon...

"Kimmi, I'll be in touch soon."

He emailed me this one sentence April 7. How do you gauge soon? And when does soon become infinite in their world? When to just chalk it up as a no?

Soon is pretty much the moment after now, for me.

That is all I use, everytime I see someone, as that is pretty much already taking place. (If that makes any sense) lol
