Lynn, before you get a court order or prosecute someone, you need to have a name. To get the person responsible's email address from a site with a 'confidenciality clause' you need a subpeona or other court order. Do you see a little catch 22 here? Of course not, because you made up your mind already and can't back down from that view.

Personal for HB -- Dude. Come on. You can get court orders and subpoenas if you don't know a name. That's what "John Doe" is all about.

Do you seriously mean that if someone called me on the phone and said, "I'm watching your house right now, and I'm going to come over tonight and kill you and your family," that when I couldn't call the cops if the guy didn't give his name? Get real!

If you're in danger or in fear your first move should always be to call the police. They have the resources to find out things and deal with things that ordinary citizens can't.

I tell you true: This excuse of yours is lame. No one believes it. It has too many holes. It fails the "Oh, come on!" test.

You know, and I know, and everyone knows, that the scam called PublishAmerica is circling the drain. People who are still aboard when it goes down the hole will go down with it.

[Shemp] and his family were under severe threat, regardless of whether the extreme of a fatality was likely or not, because HB stood as a tangible symbol of representing PA. It was PA that aggressors wanted to damage by damaging HB.

Why was the threat neutralized by [Shemp's] faked death? Because [Shemp's] significance at and for PA was utterly nullified. [Shemp] effectively ruined himself and his name as a PA representative to the point of being benign. In that sense, he is "dead meat" and therefore no longer of any interest to any basher or aggressor or enemy of PA. GET IT???

Gee, that man is so sick! And the rest of his supporters are too, as far as I'm concerned. Lynn is a sweetheart of a person. I wish she could really see PA for what they are.

I think that Lynn's using PA as a printer, producing copies to sell at the counter in her diner. She'd be better off financially just getting a local printer to run off copies, but if the vanity-presss-on-the-installment-plan works for her, well, that's her lookout.

You make a good point, Jim. I was basing my thoughts on how nice she seems to treat everyone. I just don't understand how any of them can keep on supporting PA after all that has surfaced about them. Will never understand, and won't try anymore.

The most amazing part to me is--no, I take that back. The most amazing part is dragging in 9/11. That is completely indecent.

The second most amazing part to me is the scornful tone toward other posters for not understanding an incoherent (is it okay to use that word, or has it been devalued too much?) diatribe that makes no sense on any logical level. The PA booster browbeaters are pretty much saying to other PA authors, "If you don't understand me and agree with me, you're not only dumber than dirt, you're a turncoat!"

If it were true (gag...barf) , and that's a big IF, about Shemp's (exaggerated) importance to PA, that alone should be enough to make people run in the other direction if they have any common sense at all. When you think about it, I guess Shemp is the perfect choice for PA.

I smiled at the sheer lunacy of that post, but in truth it makes me ill. I simply cannot believe the amount of abuse, bitterness, ugly nonsense and lashing out this couple (Mark and Paula) inflict on their fellow authors. It's amazing to me that they found each other, and they appear to be singularly adept at setting off each other's worst characteristics. Add Shemp to that tight little party, and you've got what has to be the most pathologically twisted threesome I think I have ever come across.

Some of the posters do appear to be backing away from them (which is good), but others are still holding their fists up in the air while basically shouting "Yeah!" This is sad and sick all at the same time. I simply cannot understand what Publish America / PublishAmerica / PA sees as valuable victim bait in this sort of "discussion."
