What's your favorite line from a song?

My favorite line (part) is from Emilie Autumn's song, "Marry Me."

Marry me, he said, god, he’s ugly, but fortune is ours
Running in the gardens enjoying men, women, and flowers
Then I break a glass and I slit my own innermost thigh
So that I can pretend that I’m menstru...well, unavailable

First time around, those lyrics made me giggle. :)

Call it fake, I call it good as it gets
And nothing in this world is for real, except
You are for me,
And I am so yours

From Ka-Boom Ka-Boom by Manson. That was part of my signature on another forum forever, and remains the first thing I think of when it comes to song lyrics.

Come to think of it, I love pretty much every lyric Marilyn Manson has ever written. Minute Of Decay and The Last Day On Earth are particularly good. (I'll spare you and not actually post the entire songs)

Bad For Good and Alive by Meatloaf are also great, particularly when I'm in a less morbid mood. Once again, I can't actually choose one line as my favorite, though.

God said to Abraham,
"Kill me a son."
Abe said, "Man, you must be puttin' me on."
God said, "No."
Abe said, "What?"
God said, "You can do what you want, Abe, but
the next time you see me comin', you better run."
Abe said, "Where do you want this killing done?"
God said, "Out on Highway 61."

Please Forgive Me by Bryan Adams

Feels like the first touch
Still getting closer baby
Can't get close enough

Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman by Bryan Adams

To really love a woman
Let her hold you -
Til ya know how she needs to be touched
You've gotta breathe her - really taste her
Til you can feel her in your blood
And when you can see your unborn children in her eyes
Ya know ya really love a woman

So many to choose from . . .

Here I sit writing on the paper
Trying to make the words you can't ignore
In my mind, what I'm lacking
Score at face, a ten for slacking
Sign the deal, set in motion
Smaller fish, so huge the ocean
~Cantrell

It's okay
Had a bad day
Hands are bruised from
Breaking rocks all day
Drained and blue
I bleed for you
You think it's funny, well
You're drowning in it too
~Cantrell

Seems so sick to the hypocrite norm
Running their boring drills
But we are an elite race of our own
The stoners, junkies, and freaks
~Cantrell & Staley

Call me up congratulations
Ain't the real why
There's no pressure besides brilliance
Let's say by day 9
Endless corporate ignorance lets
Me control time
By the way, by the way, by the way, by the way
~Staley

Okay one more. This song just shuffled on & is one of the coolest non-Alice songs:

Cannot find the candle of thought to light your name

and

I swear I recognize your breath
Memories like fingerprints are slowly raising

Damn . . .

"He's a perfect stranger,
A cross of himself and a fox,
A feeling arranger
and a changer of the ways he talks,
The unforeseen danger,
the keeper of the keys to the locks.

Knowing you see him,
Nothing can free him,
Step aside, open wide,
It's the loner.

When you see him on the subway,
he'll be down at the end of the car,
Watching you move until he knows he knows
who you are.
When you get off at your station, alone,
he'll know that you are.

Knowing you see him,
Nothing can free him,
Step aside, open wide,
It's the loner.

There was a woman he knew
about a year or so ago.
She had something that he needed
and he pleaded with her not to go.
On the day that she left, he died,
but it did not show.

Knowing you see him,
Nothing can free him,
Step aside, open wide,
It's the loner."

Find him,
Bind him,
Tie him to a pole and break his fingers
To splinters
Drag him to a hole until he wakes up
Naked
Clawing at the ceiling of his grave..."

got loads.

i think there was a similar thread to this not long ago, so i'll try not to repeat myself.

"when we were liars things were seamless" - matthew good band

"there's live on-the-spot reports from the cnn, between the ad breaks, so you think you know what's going on, but you don't, because you weren't in belfast, no you weren't there, and no you weren't in waco, no you weren't there, and no you weren't in kosovo you weren't there, and no you weren't in my head so you do know how it felt ..." New Model Army

"i could be wrong, i could be right" - PIL

"see I reckon you're about an 8 or a 9, maybe even 9 and a half in four beers time" - The Streets

"and daddy’s goin’ on another bender
he’s bonkin’ a canadian called brenda
he’s throwin’ up and down in the aisle
man, he’s sure got his own style" - clint boon experience

no doubt i'll be back with more ...
