So. Cream of the crop--the classic classics. Which are your favorites of the classic rock...visionaries?

Jefferson Airplane, Cream, and The Eagles for me.

You can still hear their influence so

The Byrds

Whoever came up with The Monkees(love 'em or hate 'em, pre-fab boybands ain't goin' nowhere, they just morph is all)

Over 20 years and youngsters are still bitin' so...

Eurythmics

On the hip-hop tip...

Beastie Boys(yeah it's been over 20 years! Pretty long time for a fad huh?)

The Ramones(inspiration for a movement right?)

Producers count so...

Phil Spector and Nile Rodgers(ya tellin' me Amy Winehouse and Rhianna would be successful without these guys' efforts back in the day?)

Someone who should have been a bigger influence? Barry White(didn't have to get raunchy to get the point across, not like todays R&B singers).

Again, since it's been over 20 years They Might Be Giants and even further back, Frank Zappa(now think about it, both so good that it's insanely tough to rip off either).

Janis Joplin
Jimi Hendrix
Led Zeppelin
The Doors
Cream
Black Sabbath
Canned Heat
Steppenwolf
Bad Company
Fleetwood Mac (especially pre-Nicks/Buckingham)
Eagles

Okay, nobody put a limit on this but I'll stop now anyway.

As others have said, Moody Blues, The Who.
I don't know about "greatest," but I LOVE Kansas.
Queen
Also what I think are the most influential groups recently: Radiohead and Velvet Revolver.

I love them all, brings back great memories. Especially when TOT brought up Boz Scaggs, even better memories for me because I knew him. Geez, funny guy!
