Well of the 9 things I've submitted in May...I got 2 rejections...

One from an article..."Well-written, but not the right type of article for our magazine"

And one from a novel agent along the lines of "Interesting storyline, but not the right project for me".

I'll admitt, it always stings, but it stung less than in the past. Your skin gets tougher everytime.

Wow, you subbed nine things in May alone? Good for you. That's fantastic. Sorry about the rejections, but keep on subbing and you'll make a sale for sure!

Thick skin or not, rejection is a foul and bitter tasting thing. I sear we have to be part masochist to keep doing what we do. But once it's in the blood...

I compare rejection to having a car accident here in Houston. I pity the people who have not yet had one ( and won't ride with them) because it is inevitable. You gotta drive here; you gotta write and you gotta submit. Unfortunately editors gotta reject. But each rejection puts you closer to acceptance/admiration/fame/ glory and continued submission and well you know . It's kind of like that Just Say No TV campaign about a guy claiming he does more cocaine; so he can work more; so he can earn more; so he can afford more cocaine. We have to write in order to submit in order to be reviewed in order to find where we fit.

So glad to hear that the sting of rejection is lessening for you :Hug2:

Two rejections in one week is tough, no doubt, but you won't be a truly seasoned writer until you can keep your chin up when you get two rejections in one day :) It's bound to happen, but you'll be stronger for it.

Keep submitting, and keep getting stronger . . . it's a winning formula!

Sorry about the rejections. Unfortunately, it's part of this process. Eat chocolate, and query some more.

Thanks to all for the kind words!

So glad that I found this board for support.

My 9 to 5 marketing job decided to switch to a 4 day work week for June and July, so hopefully the extra time off will allow me the time to submitt more and work on my own stuff more.

That's definately one of the toughest battles, having a day job that a) forces you on a computer for 8 hrs a day and b) requires you to write and be creative...your brain and your eyes aren't having it by the time you get home.

I'm sorry about the rejections. I remember I got like nine or ten rejections all within one week rofl. Just keep trying! Most writers get rejected a lot before they're officially published.
