At this moment I feel very frustrated! I had an agent read a partial 5 weeks ago, then requested a full 24 hours later. I just received an e-mail from her stating "thanks for the submission, but she did not accept christian fiction at this time". I don't think she read it because there is nothing christian about my manuscript at all. If anything it would more than likely get the church upset. I don't know if I should e-mail her back and state this fact, or just let it go, knowing she never read any of it.

So I could not stand it so I emailed her back. She answered me promptly, stating my beginning threw her off and she gave it to one of her editors who said it walked a line of social parameters but was great fun to read and he enjoyed it. She stated she thought it was good and my sex scenes were hot and if she could help let her know. She just did not think her agency could sell it at this time. I guess it's not the worst thing to hear, but gosh I want an agent........................at least my sex scenes were hot. Cry Cry

Thanks everyone. I know she could have just wrote it sucked, please go away. This is my first official rejection from someone requesting more of my work, and this is my first manuscript I've tried to sell. I guess I better just chin up and get over it..........and resubmit.

Sorry about the rejection, but good for you for having the guts to e-mail her back when you were sure it was a mistake. Sounds like you got soe decent feedback.

Sorry to hear. It's disappointing--but really an encouraging response, since you are just at the beginning of this process. Keep going, and good luck!

Thanks again everyone. You guys are the best! I keep saying to myself.....hot sex scenes, hot sex scenes. Perhaps I should just add some more "hot sex scenes" and push the book as erotica.

Now that's an idea. I've often thought that if I'd added some hot sex scenes to my memoir it might have found a publisher by now. Of course that would have turned it into a novel :)

I think that was an AWESOME response that you got! Not only did they take the time to prove that they read your work but they also pointed out the stronger parts. And they pointed out that "they" couldn't sell it, which implies that someone else could. Get out there!!!! You're on a good path it would seem! Congrats!!! (PS. Where do I sign up to be written into those scenes you're writing w/ that avatar??! Count me IN!)
