Hi,

I write picture books stories and am about to finish with the first book with the pictures. The web site is coming together. I took the book to a meeting for one lady to read. She really enjoyed the book. Next day I get a call from her saying the library where she goes wants me to bring the story and read it to the children. They want a table sat up for me to sign books and sell them. Another lady called and wanted to know where to buy it. I don't even know her. I keep saying it is not published yet. This gives me the impression maybe this book will go. The name is "Dobbin and the Stardust Trail".

Hey Sparkle!

Sounds like people are enjoying your book, awesome! I'm just a bit confused as to the nature of this post. Is this Goals and Accomplishments thing or is there a question in there you would like to discuss? It doesn't matter either way, I just am not sure what to say in reply!

Sparkle, it sounds like there may be a miscommunication on your part. Are you telling people "I wrote a book" or are you telling them "I wrote a book and I'm trying to find a publisher"? It seems odd that a library would ask you to come sell a book that hasn't even been finished yet. You might want to rethink the way you discuss it with folks in the future, just to prevent any further misunderstandings.

Hi,

The book has not been published, but a complete version plus the pictures has been completed. I have asked for opinions to the quality of the book from a mixed group. I was very surprised when the woman from the library requested me to read it let alone sell the book. I know it is not done this way. It has seem to have taken on a life of it's own. I will be sending it back to a publisher who expressed interest before I had it finished. I was just wondering if this has happen like to others?

It depends. A lot of libraries etc really love getting authors in to read so they are always really enthusiastic to learn when someone has written a book. And I do know of one author over on write4kids who self-published a picture book and has done so well that now she has acquired an agent. I think the important thing is, as you've proven, to spred the word about your book. People seem genuinely interested when they hear you've written a book.

Sounds like things are going well! Good luck with it all!
