agents for gift or art books?

eccentric artist

Does anyone know of literary agents who represent books that are in the gift book or art book genres? Is there, in fact, a gift book genre? My book is a collection of my humorously captioned art. I did find one agent, in California, Betsy Amster, who listed gift books as one of her interests. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hey. Thanks. Folio Lit. management seems like a really high powered agency though.

Yes, perceptive of you. I admit I'm feeling like, though I am trying to, I am not putting the most professional query forward and am looking for someone who can see the value of my project despite the need for editing. I guess I feel the high powered guys won't bother to see the mill for the floss. Thanks for the feedback.

Yup, did that, and got the info for Folio -- thanks.

Couldn't find any website for Betsy Amster, though. Does she have one?

ea, why would you consider submitting a query that's anything less than professional? If you think this agent is a good match for you, hold your horses until you have a killer query letter in hand, and then submit. Otherwise, you're just wasting your time. The same goes for your manuscript. If it's not publication ready, submitting it is pointless. You need to get everything in the best possible shape, or it ain't going nowhere.

There are tons of resources listed throughout the boards here, so I'm sure you'll be able to find the help you need. Feel free to PM me if you need a hand.
