I can't believe I'm writing this. But here goes.
Like many writers, I've thought about writing a novel but I was never able to come up with some good ideas. I am a good writer if you tell me what to write about, but the original ideas tend to escape me. As a result, I'm a good non-fiction writer (health and medicine, mostly) and I make a good living with it.
But.... yesterday, as I was reading the newspaper, I came across a story that triggered an idea for a mystery. The thing is, the idea won't go away. I've been thinking about it all day and night. Every time I woke up last night, my first thoughts went to how I would plot things out and how many main characters there would be, and so on.
I know that writing a novel is way, way different from what I'm used to. The thing is, do I have the confidence to give it a try?
