Woman's World Response Time

Hi Everyone! I saw a post here a little while back asking for info. on Woman's World recent response times.

I submitted a story on Dec. 12, 2007, and just received a rejection today. It was postmarked April 16, 2008.

There is also a handwritten note at the bottom that mentions a change in their word counts:

"Hi Kate -- I'm sorry this amusing story didn't quite work for me. For future reference, the romance word count is now 800, mini mystery = 700. Thanks, Johnene Granger"

Hey, thanks for the info, Kate! I sent a story on Dec. 15, so I guess I should expect my rejection any day now.

Got my rejection today. So...it's taking about 4 1/2 months, for a rejection anyway.

I meant to say that I'm sorry for your rejection, Kate. I don't know how many times you've submitted to them, but they are an incredibly difficult market (at least for short stories). I don't feel too badly about mine because I know how hard it is. Johnene *did* say my story was "nicely written." I swear, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to their decisions.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get in. I was hoping you would!

That was my first submission -- I actually felt kind of encouraged to have gotten a personal note at the bottom. A lot of places just send you 1/8 of a piece of paper with what seem to be altogether too few words printed on it. So this was a welcome change!
