I never post email-type stuff, but this is from my SIL's sister, a missionary in Kenya who works with widowed and disinfranchised women. Please say a prayer for the Amani women this weekend.
Dear Ones,
We are looking at a long, hard weekend. There is a sect or cult here in Kenya called Mungiki. They are brutal and ruthless and they target innocent people. The wife of their leader was killed last week and the funeral is tomorrow. In retaliation, the Mungiki group are calling for terror and violence throughout the country. We’ve closed Amani for Friday and Saturday so no one has to be out on the roads trying to get to work. Please pray for God’s protection and peace for all of us. Pray also for Kenya – with this just on the heels of the post-election violence, people are scared and tired, and tired of being scared.
I’ve included two links below that our American Embassy Warden sent to us. It gives some background on the Mungiki.
Thank you for your prayers and love,
Cathie and Mary – for all the Amani family
