I've never gone to a conference but I've gone to a workshop. They're an excellent source as far as networking. I just happened to be seated next to a published author 20 times over. I was pregnant at the time and she wanted to know all about my baby and my other kids so it opened doors. I highly recommend it.

I've been to conferences by local chapters, but not the big ones in NY or LA. I've heard positive things about both from friends who went. They put a lot of work into the conferences - with lots of great speakers.

AW. A very nice place!
I went to one. A VP from Viking Books was there. All forty or so people in attendance were fawning all over her. It made me so sick to my stomach that I never attended another conference of any sort again.

I'm thinking about going to the one in Indianapolis. If I end up going, it'll be my first.

I've gone to several of my local chapter's conferences. They're enjoyable, and very, very motivating. I always leave the conference wanting to run home and write. They're also great for networking -- meeting local crit partners and forming critique groups and things like that.

I've seriously considered going to the LA conference this year, but it's gonna cost me a pretty good chunk of change, so I haven't completely committed myself to it yet. Everybody I've known who's gone has said it's really amazing -- so much talent in one place!
