I keep finding myself in discussions about all the great movies that are coming out this summer but I can never remember them all so I compiled this working list. I figured y'all might get some use from the list as well. (Note: someone else can add chick flicks)

Narnia is a comedy? That explains a lot.

You missed Wall-E. The next Pixar movie.

Or is this just a list of the movies you actually think will be good?

D'oh - thanks, I'll fix that categorization. I actually haven't heard of Wall-E, but I've added that one to the list. I think most of these movies will be good except the last 4 on the list. The only ones I think will actually be great are the first 2, but the rest should be entertaining. Hancock might be a surprise hit and I'm hoping the Love Guru will be worth the wait. It looks lame but Mike Meyers is so brilliant it might take a while to really digest the humor.

For now, I'm looking forward to Wall-E (!!) and Dark Knight. I'm frightened of Indiana... I want to see the reviews first. And if I like Forgetting Sarah Marshall, I'll also see Pineapple Express.

I can't say that I'm dying to see any of the movies this summer. Except maybe Indiana Jones because of the amazing nostalgia rush it'll give me. Just hearing the theme song makes me tingly.

Iron Man could be OK.

I liked the last Batman, so I'll probably give props to Heath and see this one.

Same with Narnia (without the Heath props).

They should agree to retire the Hulk -- I'll be shocked if that one is good.

Based on the Speed Racer trailer, I think the movie would give me a seizure, but I'm about 20 years older than their target demo.

Loved the X-Files. Scared the movie will suck worse than the last one.

Re: Hancock. you're right, III. That one is a wild card. The original script sold a long time ago. It was really dark about an existential superhero who had given up. It has been worked over and WillSmith-a-cized, so who knows what it is now. I'm curious.

The comedies are all a shot in the dark. Who knows? I do have to say that the only trailer I've even had a chuckle during was Kung Fu Panda. That is kind of sad for the rest of them.

The ones I'm really chomping at the bit for are Indy, The Dark Knight and Hellboy II. I'm hoping Hancock and Get Smart are good. The trailer for Hancock is hilarious.

I'd add "Wanted" to the list--the first English-language movie by the director of the "Night Watch" series. The trailers look good and it has a fine cast (also Danny Elfman

). There's also "The Mummy 3," which I'm not particularly excited about but which would make a nice list addition.

I'm very stoked for a lot of these films; if they life up to their potential, this summer should be terrific. Sequels to great movies--Indy, Hellboy, Batman, Caspian--have me the most excited at the moment, but I'm also itching to see new properties like Wall-E (Pixar hasn't had a dud yet) and the aforementioned Wanted. On the other hand, I can't really get excited for Iron Man or the Hulk, and none of the comedies really appeal.

As a geeky score collector, I couldn't be happier. A new Williams, a new Gregson-Williams, a double helping of Elfman, and a new, uh, Newman. Goodbye CD budget.

Just watched the Hancock trailer. I'll probably see that one--I'm a sucker for superhero stories.

That said, it's not until 2009, but I'd say this movie is the next one to get excited about. Of course, without trailers, I might retract that statement before showtime.

I wonder if they'll ever do a live action Avengers movie or Superfriends movie with an ensemble cast from the individual films. That could be really good. Thanks for the heads up on the Watchmen!

Sounds like we're about in the same boat, Mike. I was stoked to hear Ed Norton was doing The Incredible Hulk, but looking at the previews, it's the same terrible CGI Hulk so I'm not holding out any hopes for it. And as much as nostalgia compels me to want to see Speed Racer, the racing scenes do look absolutely vomit-inducing.

Anyone remember the live action Thunderbirds movie? (pauses to vomit) I've seen the Speed Racer previews. It looks just as gag-inducing.

I'm pretty sure they've sold the rights to the Avengers. But last I saw they hadn't made any final decisions on which superheroes would be in it. (Over the years, pretty much the entire Marvel universe has been in that group.)

They were also hot on the heels of a Justice League movie (which would have had most of the Superfriends in it). They had cast a bunch of (mostly unknown) actors, but then the strike put it on semi-permanent hold.

I doubt that they'll ever make these ensemble movies with the actors from the other movies however. It would take an amazing amount of cooperation among the producers/directors/actors of the individual movies to bring that together. A bunch of people would undoubtedly have to put their egos aside to make it happen. Remember, this is Hollywood we're talking about.

Rumor has it that George Miller's upcoming (?) Justice League film was at one point largely inspired by Superfriends.

Hellboy is the only one I'm interested in. Possibly Imdiana Jones but only if Spielberg did msot of the movie. As lnog as Lucas didn't have too much creative control, maybe it'll be good. After The Phatom Menace, I cringe at the thought of what Lucas could do to this film.

Well, Lucas and Spielberg made the other Indy movies and they are in the same roles as before (producer and director respectively), so it has all the potential to be a total blast.

Yeah but George Lucas also was in the same role for the more recent Star Wars films as he was during the original three and we all know how that turned out.

I love the Indy films and REALLY hope this one is good but I have reservations.

Actually, no, he wasn't. Lucas only directed the first of the original three. Irvin Kershner directed The Empire Strikes Back and Richard Marquand directed Return of the Jedi.

Yeah, Lucas directed all three of the newer ones. I enjoyed them, but they didn't have the same magic as the original trilogy. I think George was so wrapped up in the technology that he forgot about telling the story.

But with Spielberg in the director's chair for Indy, I don't have that fear. He's shown time and time again that he can get the story on screen no matter what kind of technological gimmickry he does or doesn't use.
