They say that all the world's a stage
But I have yet to find
An actor that good to play a role
of life that's so divine
Perhaps it is my view of things
Perception undefined
A gathering of clues and pieces
Leaving souls entwined
That I could see such simplicity
And hear echoes telling on the wind
That there is more in life to give
Than talent ere could send
So if my sights are set askew
And my heart is set askeen
I give my views back up to you
And ere to now will ever look within

Threads of all sorts
intellectual, logical,
intuitive, emotional,
spiritual.
Some thinner, some thicker,
some like rope, tethering me to
their source.
An infinity of threads
woven in me, around me, through me,
connecting me.
To those I've met, those I've not met,
still there are threads.
They work both ways.
And they show a pattern.

There is this pattern on her arms.
White spots she digs at so earnestly
swat those insects flying about
they are not there or are they?
Her name is Linda
a sweet child she was
full of plums and christmas and I luv you.
She changed her name
to a broad over there,
now she is known as Wanda La Rouge.
She wears the Rouge on body and cloth
she still can place a cup on her ass.
Other than that
nothing has changed
except she is dead
not talking to me
of love and dolls and tootsie rolls.
She's searching her arms
the veins thin and weak
for Linda sweet Linda
not Wanda La Rouge.
"Hey broad over there,
come on I've no time.
Just kneel down right there
you'll get some from me
to feed dear Wanda La Rouge."
So Wanda is fed and Linda is dead
and time goes on with crack and begone.
Dear Linda in Heaven?
Not really sure.
Dear Wanda is right over there.

Throw it down,

unfocused and abused,

My dreams whisper of worlds
far beyond the fallen tears
of a child lost in harsh words.
My breaths release the burden
and my weary head feels light.
This is right -I will forgive all.
The people behind the curtains all
live behind masks in their worlds.
Heedless of their darkness, they see light
reflected upon sweat drops and tears.
Their role is a chosen burden,
but can it be released by words?
They line up their hurtful words
as if they were but lines, all
one could ever speak. No burden
could be greater in any worlds.
The bitter sting of laughing tears,
reflecting only sorrow in dark light.
The masks have blinded them from true light,
and the lines have shallowed their words.
They speak with knives and with tears,
no commandments –they’ve broken them all.
Lost in their reverie and inner worlds,
their life becomes a burden.
I want to help lift that burden
and reflect all of life in that light
I want to show them different worlds,
want to speak with soothing words
and maybe that will teach them all
that there is other water than tears.
Maybe then they will dry their tears
and maybe, release some of the burden.
I just wish to help them, that’s all,
not preach, but just speak, about light.
I wish to deliver with my words,
wish to take them to different worlds.
Let’s dry them all –the fallen tears,
travel to worlds that release the burden.
We’ll find the light within loving words.

left me in an empty ditch.

On the way to Campianolla

can hold and be
one another's gentle hug
no other roads may lead us on
frenzied hate no need to run
gentle gait or childhoods skip
the fan of gentle discontent
waved no longer

Ah, I think I may know what happened.
Occasionally, I've run into a glitch in the display when a thread goes onto a new page, say post #251 (25 posts per page). Sometimes, I just can't get to that new post. (I think the way to do it is to hit Reply, then view the previous posts below the editing window.)
In this case, the first post at the top of the next page is from someone who's on temporary ban. Maybe that threw the display function off for you?
Anyway, carry on!

I have to leave for a while.
The only thing that scares me anymore

I'll be going on a short trip
so that I don't slip up
and do something
contrary to my mind.

Next word: Drink
This mangled mess, am I,
a twisted wreckage
running rampant with cliché,
abhorrent little phrases
not quite catching the gist
of my blistered pain.
And nothing lifts this veil,
nothing shakes the night
from the foot of my glistening soul.
I find no solace in the moonlight,
only longing from an open window,
as if reaching for a soothing drink
of its fractured wisdom.
Not even sipping Joni in the morning light,
can save me, that Canyon Lady,
majestic and pale.
No comfort in communicating
with those ebony bones and ivories,
the music lifting lightly into morning,
and I, unappeased, listening
to the tinkle of symphonies,
eschewing comfort for sorrow.
Soprano street preachers
of an evening, could not save me,
no a cappella mantra
sung for whispered glory
could lift me from myself.
Time, that great gathering whore,
will come to pass, entrench me in myself,
and sweep me, likewise like the rest,
into futures unrevealed, and I,
laughing one day soon,
will forget the sorrow held
with such a stinging greed.
Until that time, it is I,
this mangled mess, and rampant rants,
a flame of anger
in a sleepless night.
NEXT WORD: NIGHT
davids
12-14-2006, 02:23 AM
Wow that is a tough one to follow-I hope a few others might get the brilliance of this poem-like I said-WOW!!!!
Does Night mingle?
With the day I mean.
So much mingle in my mind.
Then the trick it plays
you know, the one about sleep being good
except of course the raping of my mind
that trick that sleep plays on me.
I know it's not God
God could not do such a thing
to his essence
the spring of His mind.
So I give it to the anti-hero
the one who is searching for my soul.
Hell, if it was God it would already be his I guess
or so it seems to me.
I would not have to search so much
giving up too easy.
Can you give your soul?
To the anti-hero I mean.
If it belonged to God
it would be his
I'd have nothing to give away.
So it seems that it is taken
not much for me to do
avoid the sleep
an easy chore
for a man
whose threat is sleep.

virulent rapacious think

vortex of hell's wind pulls

chaos in the black deep calls us

laying dormant in that rage

With this blistering mantra
I will awake your tree,
roots deep in time
twisted to the gnarl of grit,
the earth that sucks us raw,
keeps us firm in bodies divine.
With this stroke of wisdom
I will lift you from your dance,
twist the manic brain
from your sleeping core,
give you voice
from which to speak in tongues,
unbidden by knowledge lost.
With this wand,

from the hands that move me,
I will assail your little house,
break the glass that keeps you

on dune walks,
rushing to scan for danger
before it slithered out of sandy holes
in crackly desert brush;
rousing ancient big-cat spunk
she battled orange-painted snakes,
fearless of the peril -
nice lunch for mommy - look, poison's dead!
these miser sunless days we feed from cans
cooped up in a room
third floor above ground.

It was lock-down
dark came

lock-down where they put the likes of me
I loved Patriotic to the bottom of my soul.
There was a lot of crying
no tears left
not for me
I left them on the porch of my life
that soft sweet rain dropped summer day.
Let out?
Should that joy be filled and thrown to you?
Came back
looked about
lock-down?
I guess it's in the way
you look at it, yours or mine?
I will thrust the so-called joy of freedom
back in the faces of the ones who lied to me
to myself for believing
a bite of Mom's sweet apple pie
could change the world
set us free.
A thought of that
nice and warm and holding me
is crap-the sadness of the lack
of finding better words to say
is a knife in the heart of every boy
that thinks a man must stand or die.
I know what you think
all you out there
of honors, pride and sacrifice.
Cheap talk
that is all it is
tricked me once
never again.
Take it for yourselves
and fill your life with cheap words and pretty pictures
young lads and ladies
sit in lock-down
waiting in forlorn
they know not now
that this sermon of pity
I write for me
is my truth
not yours
but in me forever.
Your pity is loathsome

It's enough to be
content with my life,

We all make mistakes

if not tomorrow,
then some other day.
Regrets?
It's useless in the great

All the sins committed

Have long been absolute
Where than, do I travel
Down a long, lone
empty road?
Off toward the future
Bright, clear, shining
Where sins no longer hold me
I will find such absolution
In the chiming of my heart.

The thin promise it gives

sparks up it does once

so let us dear hearts
grasp at the gruel
as it winds the way down
slippery through fingers
covered in blood
erstatz for the joy of the brood
for the tickle and squeeze
the soft gentle breeze
of I love you dear one
forever and after

masters' subtle hints ignored--
my feet planted squarely in the surf,
here i persisted
perpendicular to flow,
resisting tides
as gentle waves lapped puckered lips
sealing my words in silence,
hopes in sorrow,
and webbing dreams in obscure silk;
i didn't dare let go
to float the current,
journey from this lonesome shore.
nor did i ask what reasons
for the ocean roll
believing that
like those who held this spot before me
awaiting bursts of auroras,
this here,
would be the whole of my journey.
maybe it was a scattering of clouds?
rainbow shards
clattered the bubble
of sheltering fog i let grow?
maybe a radio bleep my embrio-self beamed,
knowing back then that letting go
was something I would come to forget?
maybe it was a miracle
and maybe
all is as it should be--
for how could i appreciate freedom
if bondage didn't have a name?
how sublimly different -- floating away,
travelling the mirror of my soul
watching suns map the universe.

A night janitor knocks lightly

I admired your poem as well, Davids.
A Weasel of a Woozle
Piglet and Pooh went to hunt down a Woozle.
In order to catch him they had to flamboozle;
They laid out a trap with Pooh's best jar of honey--
And at the last minute they threw in some money
In case that darn Woozle had fingers quite sticky,
(Though it did make that nickel a teeny bit icky.)
The Woozle, he fell for it lock, stock, and barrel;
He reached for that honey at his sticky peril.
The trap door was sprung, and that Woozle was nabbed,
While Piglet with Christopher Robin friends gabbed.
He ate all Pooh's honey, then sprung himself free
('Least that's what a sticky Pooh-bear said to me).

We ate the moon like manna,
Served its thinly sliced wedges
On our glistening bellies
In preparation of our union.
We summoned deities
To christen our locked embrace,
Drank fire from crystal glasses.
We stood naked
In reverence of the great city,
Its lights betraying
Our hidden wonder.
We made ritual
Of our shenanigans,
Giving thanks in dance
To our liquid limbs.
We fell to the bed,
Closing our eyes on the city,
With the moon in our bellies
We Dreamed of demons in neon.

I closed my eyes and I surrendered
to the images in my mind.
I curled up and put my arms around
my empty stomach and my chest,
that hurt so much
when breathing.
A warmth spread inside me then
and someone caressed my trembling hand.
No words spoken, only love,
through touch and breaths and kisses.
No tears fell

whispered quiet salvation.

It's not like they're earning me money any way,

Still I hope -someday?
Things will go my way.
And I'll be able to sell,

'Peripatetic'
Little Sue was not quite sure
she heard the word correctly
so she asked for a repeat
'please say it phonetically'
she bit her lip
and twirled her hair
(her mother slipped
right off the chair!)
then stepped up to the microphone
'P, E, R, I, P, A,T,'
(pause) the audience was breathless
'E,T,I,C,' - then-questionmark
Her discipline had done her proud
she knew her dictionary
certainly her mother, proud,
gloated all through January
Sue, she really did not care
for blue ribbons or acclaim
and mailed off her prized award
dedicated to Davids

Silver glittering -

and no one

Silver glimpses -
wise hair and costumes,
sweeping cloth

from the world.
Who saves us now?
Silver medallions -
silver crosses
and pentacles of faith.
They protect so few
these days
and I wonder.
Silver screen -
I type words

Silver light -

of traded consciousness.

02-08-2007, 07:11 AM
A great thing, beauty
Enough to tame the

Inwardly...
A beauty might raise
the eyes of man
towards heaven, a
glimpse of angels
in her eyes.
A beauty might inspire
glorious poetry
songs that soar above
their master's thoughts
and fill the minds of
humanity with joy.
But Beauty can have
the cold steel heart
of a machine,
a killer leading
death on a chain,
hell's hound submitting
to a perfect hand.
