Music Critics

I noticed something the other day. I watched "Idol gives back", and realized that all these Mega stars sound ""Pitchy" and "flat", and like they're "screaming", on that stage. It dawned on me that these hopefuls are better than we think, because flat out- they have to sing in a place with terrible accoustics that even throw off the pros.

It sounds like a stretch to relate this to writing- but sometimes the expert critics are off. I thought Michael Johns rocked! Their expert opinions that he should stick to R&B blues only show a prejudice to their preference.

David Cook is legit and I think he'll do great. I like more of the contestants this year than in the past. Dave Cook and Jason are entirely unique. Brook plays and sings, and has the charisma, though she doesn't have the strongest voice.

I still think Michael is a great talent. Whereas David has the writing/song-scultping chops, Michael has that frontman energy and natural athleticism to go with a great voice. With the right band, I think he would be like INXS- Michael Hutchins was.

Here's a thought- Mick Jagger- late sixties and early seventies version, was one of the best frontmen in the world during that period. But he never did anything great of note on his own. Plug Michael into the right band, and I think he'd be amazing.
