Hey, everybody, I have a quick question that's been bugging me. The song "Alms, Alms," from Sweeney Todd is in a really strange mode. I was wondering, does anyone know if this is Sondheim's foray into serialism? At times it sounds almost atonal, but it seems very structured.
Anyway, just something I was trying (and failing) to analyze, so I'd love it if anyone has a suggestion.
