I'm bored, so I thought this would be a cool idea.

Post fun / interesting things about your script..

example - did you imagine what your own soundtrack would be like if your script was turned into a movie? if so, what are the songs? if your script is riddled with references, what are the films? anyone in particular you would like to see act in your roles? besides you, who would be perfect to be the director? stuff like that.

My apologies if this thread has been done already. I did a search and didn't find anything.

I don't know if this applies, but the funnest thing about one of my script/projects right now is that the pilot/trailer is hitting the upcoming Cainnes Festival!

Uh... what?! Link, website, pictures, video - now, if you please!

Funniest thing about my latest - I spent a good part of this evening talking to a very knowledgeable builder (and fellow Aw-er) about glass, screen doors and how they break. I'm a stickler for realism I guess. :)

*Sniff* I can't! I'm under a non-disclosure clause where I have to keep details about the project secret until they find distribution or give me the go ahead. The trailer is awesome though and I can't wait until I can talk about it! As soon as I get the go ahead I'll spill it. Though it's been super nice to have both a project that pays and that I'll get to see.

Sigh... under one of those myself at the moment. They do take the fun out of things don't they? :D

Well, congratulations are certainly in order anyway. It must be very cool to see your work in a form other than the page. It's been a long, hard slog for you and I can't wait to see/hear more about it, Sara. Well done! :)

Thanks Chris,
And congrats yourself. It does take a l ot of the fun out of it because you can't share some of the most exciting things as they happen. But it is amazing to see the work come to life and actually know that other people are going to see it.

one of my scripts had loads of fun stuff in - it was a ghost story so a lot of songs referenced were ghost related etc.
um, then the conscensus here was that i shouldn't so i took them all out. :-(
the surnames of the characters are all surnames of people who have been in ghost movies tho, and the lead's car number plate is in in-reference too.

It's only a few days old and its kind of a Rebecca meets American Graffiti kind of thing. Especially in the imaginary music department.

the "scheme" in my script is slowly unfolding in real life.

This isn't mine, it's Zag's... he wrote it and put it together. It's a short that he shot in my house with myself, Ms. Rainy Night and a could of little Rainy Nights... and Zag in the lead role.

Are you sure you can't give a hint? If it's on the web or going to be viewed at Cannes then it's up for public view...

*dying* to see your work Ice... you too Chris...

In the meantime I'm still waiting for my producer to get the funding... "it's only two weeks away"

And I'm dying to share it! They are pretty specific as they want to get funding and stay pretty unique in their concept, it's a series. I'm hoping it's well recieved because I'll be working on the feature if it is.

well, writing my first script right now, so it's all fun. and a complete mess. it's not got any references that i can think of (which is unlike me not to put in some obscure references/easter egg style stuff). but, it's about WWI aces and dragons, so i think it's impossible not to have fun with it. i can't wait to get to the part where they do battle and one guy just gets his head chomped off. there's just too many cool bits to do like that.

no specific music in mind. i should have actors in mind, but i don't.

congrats on your guys' stuff going on. can't wait to see it. :)

thanks, f. i think the trick for me here is to sprinkle cool stuff throughout between the 'story' stuff to promise the reader/audience that something *really* cool is going to happen. such as when the dragons attack a trench system. that'll be cool.

back in the day, when an ace got shot out of the sky, he would, if possible, burn his plane so the enemy couldn't capture it and retro-engineer the good stuff and use it for their own designs. so, i thought it only made sense that these trained dragons gather around a downed comrade and just incinerate it on the field.

trench warfare was, as i'm sure everyone knows, horrible. corpses would sink into the mud, that kind of thing. a good explosive dragon blast should send up plenty of that kind of junk. i'm open to any cool ideas that doesn't interfere with the story. i'm just getting to the first dragon/plane skirmish where one of the main dragons paces a flyer, he looks over to the beast, and it simple takes his head off. another dragon lands atop a plane and just begins ripping it to shreds, which sounds cool. i want to use up these ideas as soon as possible to force me to think up even better stuff later. i like to challenge myself that way. :)

The oddest/funniest thing that happened related to the last script I wrote was with a friend's wife who read it. The script follows the friendship of two lone kids, 11 and 12, as they grow up as the only children living in a small, isolated, defunct farming village. And after reading it, she said of my main character, "He's just so BAD!", meaning, he was a really bad kid, which never occurred to me. It caught me by surprise and made me laugh because the story is pretty much a mixture of my brother and I.

But she is the only one who has said this. I think it says more about her than me.
