I didn't know where to post this, sorry moderator, so I thought I'd start here. I searched and couldn't find any other place where this could be appropriate.

I'm freelancing for a magazine that wants stories of how food sort of brought about an epiphany or reconciliation between people. It can be from anywhere in the US and Canada.

If anyone has anything, please PM me and let me know your story. It would go into a publication based in Northern New Jersey.

Funny, mashed potatos and gravy train brought the Big Brother house together yesterday too. Must be a thing with mashed potatoes?

That's a good question right now.
I'll move this over to Story Research. You'll probably get more targeted responses there, rather than these beloved smart alecks that occupy the Roundtable.

I married my Wife in good part because she could sure cook a great liver and onions meal.
[Sigh]

Now after 24 years her onion breath kills me and my liver is destroyed due to all the beer I drink because of her.

Food = long marriages I guess.

Here is an extended version of my original email:

It's for a piece called Recipes for Living, where women (sorry no men - the magazine is for women) share their true stories of how one food dish improved their
life. For example:

"The cookies that ended a stand off with my teen"
"The pot roast that won me the love of my life"
"The coffee cake that helped sooth a stubborn neighbor"

Most people have positive memories about food (like, "my mom always made
this special birthday cake that I liked...") but those aren't the stories
I need. I'm looking for dramatic stories about how food can trigger
positive change in people's lives. The magic is showing how food can
actually help women get over a tricky relationship hurdle.

So that's it --- any women out there with stories???

I've had experiences where my penchant for more exotic foods has helped me make in-roads with people from various parts of the world who have moved to the USA and opened restaurants and grocery stores. Or were you thinking something more emotional. I don't have much emotional. Well, maybe the time my grandma got pissed at me 'cause my rugulah (It's a Jewish cookie) was better than hers.
