Yep; unless you're doing it because it's fun, or some other personal reason, skip the whole website-marketing-branding thing until you have contract.

Well, my employer's website helped land me a writing gig, but that was for non-fiction and it was a commercial website. The publisher needed experts in the sort of products the website sold. With fiction, I can't see it being very helpful.
