K3 was a calico cat with an attitude. I met her about a year ago when I went out as usual to feed the strays here in the apt. complex. She was called K3 because I've run out of names. K3 had more a bit white and showed up to meet me and my entorage of felines about a year ago.
Kali is the first calico I knew here 3+ years ago. Her mother was found dead, like of a car, or snake bite. Kali's brother mask is white with a black face and tail. Sasha, a white cat with grey cap and grey tail and is Kali's daughter. I've been able to befriend them both and was able to catch them and get them neutered. Domino, Sasha's extremely loving sister was killed by a dog shortly before her first year of life.
K2 is a dark calico, lots of black who as a 6 mo. old spent most of a day up a tree in the yard where the dog lives who killed Domino. For the rest there's Thomasina, a tabby and white and her child Thomette who's about 5-6 mo--don't know the sex. Big Spot is a male, mostly white with big grey spots. Spottette is a very loving female white with small grey spots, Tapuzina (Hebrew for orange) is an orange tabby, Blonde is a lovely shy pale tan tabby, Thomas Tabby, a solid tabby shows up sometimes, he's sort of friendly, Blackie doesn't show up often--a huge male. I see 2 white with orange faces & heads, the female belongs to someone, she just comes to visit sometimes, the other is shy. Greybaby is a gorgeous grey tabby with a pattern of circles who had her 4 kits in the nice neighbors yard downstairs. We're trying to find a home for them.
I have to feed these strays 9pm or later. Most people around here don't like them and think they cause problems. The cats aren't the ones who drop the trash around, break glass on the parking lot, set off firecrackers, play music loud at 2 am, steal parking spaces, scrape other peoples cars, disable the elevator, screw up the front and side door locks, etc. Though we've a kindergarten in our complex, again the children don't get sick from the cats but from strep, flu, measles, and all the other human-borne diseases.
K3 would walk close to me, though not too close. She'd hiss at everyone else to let them know she was going to be first in line. She's run and hiss in little short bursts, like she couldn't do both at the same time.
When I went to put the food down, she was lying very close to the spot I use. I wrapped her in a discarded sweater and placed her in a bin. I didn't want someone to pick her up and just toss her though the cat I knew had already gone.
She wasn't mine, but she was one I cared for as best I could. They all are good cats, they all deserve better.
I'll miss your little hisses. Be at peace K3.
