Anybody Hear From Cat Fancy Yet?

I sent a query in January and still haven't gotten a response. Their submissions for 2008 close on Mon., so as much as I hate to do it, I am going to send another one even tho' I haven't gotten a response on the first idea. Fancy Publications in general seems to be taken pretty long to respond; I've had something out to both Bird Talk and Horse Illustrated since Nov., and it took four months to hear back on my query that was ultimately accepted by Dog Fancy last year.

I think these publications receive so many submissions they occasionally become backlogged and in some circumstances, might only respond to material they're interested in publishing. Of course, that's only speculation on my part and may not apply to everyone.

I recently got a 'surprise' assignment from Bird Talk in February when they needed something on a tight turnaround. Got the piece written up in the specified week and a half time frame and now it's out in the May issue. It's the feature article mentioned on the mag cover. :)
