Okay, here's a dumb question.

I'm ready to start sending out query letters, but I don't know how to refer to my book. Should I call it my Young Adult (capitalized) novel, my young adult novel, or my YA novel?

I go by whichever looks best (though I never say Young Adult)

Usually (as in probably 90%+ of the time) I'll do YA because if they rep YA they know what it means.

Hi Wesley,

I always wrote it out -- young adult, no caps, just like you wouldn't cap "fantasy" or "paranormal" or "children's picture book."

Good luck on your querying!

I always wrote "70,000-word post-apocalyptic zombie novel targeted to the young adult market," though a few times I would open saying that I'd read on Agent Query that they were looking for young adult fiction and might therefore be interested in my book.
