I've had my agent for about a month now, and we're gearing up for submission next week. She said that she wants to "clear the decks" before submitting, which sounds good to me, since A) she's busy, you know, selling things ;) and B) it sounds like she wants to give it as much of her attention as she can. However, the anticipation is making me slightly nutty, ha ha! I was just wondering if any of you other agented writers could tell me how long y'all went between snagging that agent and actually getting your ms out into the world.

Oh, a long time! She offered representation last September, we did a couple more rounds of revision, then it was too close to Xmas/T-giving so she just sent it to a couple of people. She did a big submission in the middle of January, and I've just finished another revision based on comments in rejections and she plans to do another big submission soon.
So yes, it can take a while.

About a month. Signed in late May, MS on submission in late June.

We only did a few small revisions.

Thanks, y'all! Like I said, I'm just being weird and antsy. It's also not helping that, oh, EVERYONE in my family seems to think, "Oh, gosh, well, you got an agent, you should sell the book, like what? A week later?" ;) I KNEW I wasn't crazy in thinking it takes awhile.

I got my agent toward the end of July and she did not want to submit in August (she said a lot of editors are out of town), so waited until after Labor Day. We didn't really have much in the way of revisions to do, so it was just waiting for the sake of... waiting.

My former agent requested revisions before I signed with her. When I accepted her offer, she started submitting the ms right away.
