I'm halfwayish through a comedy novel, I wouldn't call it fast-paced or especially plot-driven, but there's a lot of sidetracking, one-liners and insults. Basically, if it makes me snort, I write it down. Trouble is, not working out a beginning, middle and end has cost me, and now I don't know what to do next. I know how my MC's (an eclectic group of wise-talking British teenage girls) got to where they are now, and I have a very vague idea for a climax and an ending, but I need some really random events to throw into the mix and get them off their butts and doing something. Here's the situation:
Right now, they're in an old manor house. They think they've been double-crossed by one of their gang, but really she's on their side and is about to steal back some valuable books from the Mafia that they think she retrieved for their boss. She sabotages their vehicle secretly, winks knowingly at her comrades, and when her true loyalty is revealed they run and have to hide out from these madmen. But where?? And with what possible hilarious wigs??
Any ideas from off the top of your head or under your own butts would be largely appreciated. I'm as random as they come, but sanity has a nasty habit of creeping up on you...
