I could use a group brainstorm, por favor.

At the end of my current, almost-finished WIP, my character has recovered the magic stone he needs to give to the witch so she will reverse the spell she cast on him (turning him into a raccoon). The stone is essentially a crystal ball, or maybe a better analogy is a webcam--it doesn't show the future, or illusions. It shows what is really happening in far away places. Useful for helping you find things that are lost, for example.

I'd like to call it a Seeing Stone, but in Spiderwick a Seeing Stone is the rock with a hole in it that lets you see the magical creatures. So I need a new name for it, different, easy to read and remember, that means the same thing.

Any suggestions?

What does the stone look like? Like a rock? Or a jewel? What size? I think I could brainstorm a little better if I had a visual?

Round, blue, like a large marble with golden flecks inside it. He wishes on it, hoping it will break the spell, but all it does is work like a crystal ball and show him his home, and his mother cooking dinner, all the reasons why he wants to break the spell.

Hmmm... from what it seems, the stone shows his heart's desire... what about the Crystal of Desire or something like that?

FWIW

The technical term for using a crystal ball or mirror to show you far-off places is 'scrying'. Scrying stone?

I'm writing for younger kids--7 to 10 years old--chapter book of about 10,000 words--so the fact that it was used in Eragon may not matter. Anyone who has read Eragon already will be a little beyond my book! But I hadn't some across the term "scry" before, so I didn't realize it was an "official" term. I'll do some more research and see if it's the word I want to use. Because of the age of the readers, I don't want something too complicated--and scry is easy enough to read.

An ancient crystal taken from the head of a sacred serpent is the glams stone blending green, brown, gold, red, and blue. It can be used to heal and to scry.

I read about it 10 years ago and thought it was a neat bit of magical trivia. :}

It sounds like a big, blue eye. Some suggestions:

The Eyegate Stone
The Goldeneye Stone
The Hearth Stone
The Beholder Stone
The Witch's Eye

Good luck!
