thriller? suspense? horror? complete crap? please help!

I have a completed MS and am currently working on the first rewrite. I'm looking for someone to read and give feedback on the first 3 chapters (about 70 pages). Also, I am having some trouble pigeonholing the genre, but figure it falls somewhere in the thriller/suspense/horror neighborhood. I would love some outside perspective on this, as I am still uncertain what to call it in future query letters. Criticism can be as harsh as necessary, as I have a history of self-flagellation and am completely comfortable crying in a corner ;)

wow, i got a lot of great feedback! i am now re-writing with a fresh head and a clear sense of direction (and occasionally coming up for air). thanks to everyone who gave their time and advice! i'm happy to return the favor any time!
