That's based off the Petit EVA toyline, isn't it? Is Gainax doing this themselves or did they give someone else the rights to?

According to the extremely abridged article:

New GAINAX Evangelion project, currently known as “Puchi Eva EVANGELION@SCHOOL,” has been revealed. A line of figurines will kickoff this newly announced SD venture — supposedly aimed at a teen audience.

Good Grief! look at this vid:

Not surprising. I've seen the toys around in Kiddyland and other toy stores. Plus, every toy machine in this country has an Eva toy thingy, most of them chibi versions of the characters. What I find worse are the sexy Rei and Asaka figurines. I mean, they are fourteen! And none of my 14 year old students have bodies like that! It's disturbing.

Do you wanna know what is disturbing? Boku no Pico. There are ehem... dutch wives... and they want to make a "clean version"

With the trading cards and model kits and cds, I'm surprised it took Gainax this long to get around to this. I think they've done only three episodes so far and Subwire's already done fansubs of them. (Or am I late on this news -- when did this part of the franchise come out?)

Be interesting to see how clean they can try to make Boku no Pico before it stops being shotacon. Did My Summer of Love Story or whatever they called it run into much controversy? Even fanservice stuff like Eiken gets ripped off U.S. tv real quick

Sweet Jesus that vid was disturbing. Though not entirely surprising. That's the one thing about anime (and manga) that I think it could do without. They come out with spin-offs faster than Disney. It's...astounding. Look at what they did to Bleach (which was only good until I realized that it wasn't that good).

Oh, and there's one more thing about animes. When's the last time you saw a new anime that was not based on high school kids? There are exceptions, but very few.

Is Yuasa's new anime Kaiba based on high school kids? I hope not because there're a lot of people saying he represents the future of the medium.

A clean version? Why the hell would they want to clean it up and ruin a perfectly good yaoi anime? I mean, who doesn't like watching a young boy being defiled by an older man? Umm, not me. . . .

I prefer my yaoi couples a bit older, thanks.

I have a friend who just LOVES yaoi and shota and she is just a big Anime and Manga fan to the point of going around in cat ears, but when I show her the pics of the... ehem... dutch wives of Pico and Chico... ehem... her answer was "OMG That's TOO Wicked!!1! o_O" or something like that

I love yaoi too, but Boku no Pico is really disturbing. And I like some screwed up yaoi (Sasuke x Itachi anyone?) but I really do draw the line when the boy looks about 8! But I'm fine if the boys are both around the same age (or related).

I'm weird. . . .

Well, the sequel has Pico with another boy of the same age... becomes even more disturbing in my opinion

Aren't we all weird in our way?

I think it could be released. A lot of people online love it already (all those pervy fangirls). The legality of it is ridiculous. Yaoi, hentai and so in can be disgusting and disturbing, but it's totally victimless. Child pornography w/ actual children is horribly wrong, but cartoon children? Come on! Now we have to protect children that don't really exist? Damn the Protect Act! And George Bush. Someone should tell him Mickey Mouse isn't real. . . .

It may be more about cable operators avoiding controversy (or fearing it) than anything the government might do, as far as DVD distribution, but I don't know.

As far as non high school anime stuff is concerned, Code Geass is finally coming over here (we're getting the first season as the show is starting its second, of course). I know it features teenage kids but it seems a little less kidsy than, say, Boys Over Flowers. (Then again I'm a big Naruto fan so my radar might be off on that anyway.)

"sighs" Living in South America you can buy illegal copies with dubious subtitles or waiting that Animax finally premires Ergo Proxy... (Animax has the monopoly here of anime on cable around here)

We got Ergo Proxy over here last year, first I heard of it. Loved it, but it peters out a little toward the end, I think.

You're lucky with Animax -- I have to make do with Sci-Fi AniMonday (which isn' bad) Adult Swim, which has deteriorated in quality unless you really like all that William Street stuff (to each his own), some good stuff shown on IFC like Speed Grapher, and whatever some other channel randomly picks up once in awhile, mostly not-great stuff like Desert Punk. If it weren't for Veoh and DVDs I'd be stuck till I can get an onDemand Anime channel on my cable.

You might try Play-Asia.com for rare DVDs. I don't know if they'd have yaoi and shota stuff, but they may be a pretty good place to start.

Here Adult Swim doesn't show anime; that's Toonami and most things doesn't past TV-13. In fact, they have make this, one of its running gags

The biggest problem with Animax is that ALL their anime goes to the SAME doubling company. So you have all the Boy Heros, Genki Girls, Old Menthors sounding the same over and over... also they have too much run-of-the-mill things which makes me miss Cowboy Beebop, Boogiepop Phamtom and Serial Experiment Lain "sighs" and they don't show movies, the ones I have seen showing movie on rarer circunstances than the Halley comet passing is Cartoon Network... on Wednesday at 3 am... the last one they passed I think it was either Vampire Hunter D or Metropolis; and they haven't showed this year

Does Toonami still show Prince of Tennis? They started that show over here and never finished it. Most of that stuff goes online now, like Mar.

The only movies we get here worth mentioning are Miyazakis (not that I'd complain about that), an Inuyasha feature once in a while, two-hour pilots or specials, and something fairly random like Blood: The Last Vampire (again, not complaining) or Jin-Roh and Appleseed, which I would complain about.

Them not showing Cowboy Bebop or Lain is a crime. They've replaced Ghost in the Shell with Harvey Birdman here, at least for the time being. Televisionwithoutpity's got a whole thread about how Adult Swim is shortchanging their anime lineup. No Big O, s-CRY-ed, Astro Boy, etc. I think Evangelion's run got interrupted before it could finish.

Big O seems to be great, I saw the first episode on youtube.

The newest thing that shows Toonami is Naruto. The rest? Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon, nothing else I think... They used to show Rurouni Kenshin, but not any more... :(

At least Adult Swim never gaves us anime on the first time instead of giving us and taking it with the same faceless caring

Naruto started on Toonami here too; talk about a show being better than its origins. When does the yaoi stuff with Itachi and Sasuke kick in? Shippuden era?

I've been meaning to catch Sailor Moon -- how do you like it?

I must ask to a friend of mine about Naruto. The problem is that I missed most of the first season and I can't watch a show missing the continuity. For this same reason I don't watch Lost or Heroes

Sailor Moon is fine, you can really feel is the mother of all the clichés of Magical Girls but that doesn't mean is not enterteining but it does become repetetive... and don't forget that on the dubbing they changed the sex of a character and transformed a possibly High School Lesbian into a cousin... making it more unconfortable...

You know something I really miss? Cardcaptor Sakura, heck I even have the Clow Cards!

Anything Morio Asaka directs (Gunslinger Girl!) is worth checking out, but I'm ashamed to say I haven't gotten around Cardcaptor yet, especially since it was named among the 100 best animated shows in Japan!
