As I said in my previous post i have this comedy idea thats about old (70s) people. Iknow that makes a lot less marktable, but my idea is that the A-List actors would be made up (Like in the end of Jackass) to appear old. I know thats mostly a directoral thing, but I think its an important aspect and makes it a lot more sellable. How do i communicate this? Can i put a preface type thing before FADE IN? Im not sure how else to do it. I dont want it in the sript as in JACK, 32 but made up to look 70, as the characters are supposed to be 70 , if you follow what im saying.Yes, it could be said in the pitch, but my chances of getting that pitch meeting would be better if they knew that info before hand....

I would write it normal with the characters being the ages they are, without regard to actors playing them.

If you feel that it's an easier sell with young actors in make up, then mention it in your query letters/pitch to producers and agents, etc... But what's important is the story/concept, not who will play it. Another thing you can do is maybe approach actors to attach themself to the project before pitching it to a studio, stating that this would be perfect for them if they were in make up.

The bottom line is that if it's a good story that has great appeal and marketibility, the studio will find a way to make it work, with either make up on Brad Pitt or by getting older semi retired A list actors, like Eastwood, Connery, etc... Look at what Cocoon did for Amechi and the others, or Grumpy Old Men with Jack Lemmon for that matter.

Cool. And my plan is to write parts for specific actors and try and get them on board. Thanks

I wouldnt write specifically for certain actors. Just write it the way you see it and then go find some actors that fit. But I warn you to not expect a lot from this approach. In many ways it is harder to get an actor (and his agent first) to read your work than getting a producer to.

Ok thats a good sugestion.
As far as submitting to specific actors, i figure ill do that along with just sending them out the normal way.

Although before any of that I need to get motovated and start writing this damn thing. Ive been all pumped to start another screen play and now that im ready i dont want to start. Maybe i should outline it some more or something

Cocoon was about old people and it worked. Grumpy Old Men had an aged Walter Mathau and Jack Lemon and it did so well they made a sequel. I guess it all comes down to how well you can write the screenplay and make it interesting to the young crowd.

Okay, so maybe it's wishful thinking, but I honestly believe that we're going to start seeing a surge of movies about older people, especially a la Tuesdays with Morrie - baby boomers and aging parents.

I mean really, how long can audiences stare at gorgeous, taut young bodies ;)

Seriously, though. I think.

Well this film would be making fun of them, heh.
