Uh, wha ... ?

From MSNBC.com:

“Meanwhile, I just go ‘Thank God I'm awake’ and wait for three or four hours before I do anything. (Jagger) is a power freak and there's nothing we can do about it. I don't want to do anything about it. It doesn't make any difference to what we do,” the BBC quotes from the interview.

Cripes, in the photo accompanying the article he looks like he's been embalmed. He's the last person I'd take advice from on anything.

Keith Richards saying 'stay off dope' is like Britney Spears popping up with an abstinence message.

You want really frightened, take a look at his picture on the Stones' first album, from back in 1964. He was actually kinda cute, cuddly-like, cherubic in a slightly evil way.

There's a long tradition of music stars who have spent their lives partying, drinking, drugging, having groupie sex, etc., warning about the evils of excess later in life. After they've had their fun, of course.

But watch them when they get together and start reminiscing about the good old times. They'd do it all over again in a heartbeat if they were young again.

"Look, I mean, you know, I've done it for 60-odd years and this, but I say, ya know, there's a point ya'v got ta stop it, yeah? Just put it down. And I think now, just maybe, is a good time to tell lads this message and that's, you know, lay off the dope. I mean, I'm rich and famous and have, over my life, had injected into what amounts, an entire Afghani crop of poppies, yeah? But now -- you know, now is a just a bonny time to put it down. Lay off. But thank God for Jack Daniels, yeah?"

That's exactly what I was going to say.

Now 'scuse me while I go live excessively.
