I was just kind of day dreaming the other day and I came up with what i thought was a cool concept. Its a story about a guy that get addicted to car crashes. There is really not a lot to go on but I was thinking about having him be a normal joe then once he gets into the car wreck he feels alive and gets hooked. I was also thinking about having him see a girl when he gets in a wreck and maybe work in a love story some how. Anyway again, just me day dreaming. Anyone have any ideas they can throw at me?

Your off-subject observation doesn't belong here, in fact it probably doesn't belong anywhere, how about editing it out?

Your car crash addiction idea reminds me in no small way of Crash (1996)

based on what we know about you from your post

after a stupid white student is denied access to the more difficult subjects in science and technology he takes a utility job in an asian automobile manufacturing plant with the plans on sabotaging the reputation of their fantastic cars.

Your script idea. . . if you are indeed to make it as a short script. . . seems expensive. Not that I am saying that you should not write whatever story that comes to you and try to do it well but I do not think you could expect to make the movie or sell it as a short. Car crashes? Yeah, sounds expensive. Especially if you have to re-shoot a crash.

Oh, and by the way, large universities tend to be very diverse places. Embrace it. I sure Santa Barbara is much more diverse than Maine, or where ever. It is a way to break out of the mold that your upbringing put you in and if you want to write, that is one of the best type of experiences out there.

(Funny. . . car crashes and diversity. . . yeah, that does sound like Crash. Even though our friend had them completely unrelated.)

I at first started reading your post, and I thought "Wow! Another cute little newbie!"

And then when I got to the end of your post, and I thought: "Wow! Another annoying troll!"

But .....

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're NOT a troll, just an exceedingly goofy kid who blurts out whatever comes into his head and never self-censors his thoughts and words. So here's some advice: Either get some counseling or get some medication because you're not going to survive this semester with an outlook like that.

Meanwhile, the poster named dpaterso is a moderator here at this message forum and he has kindly and unecesarilly given you a very very fair and even-handed warning just now. So here's some more advice: heed that warning and view it as a favor from him.

Yeah sorry about that. I was on a 5 hour writing session at the school and I was just typing with out thinking. What's a troll? I currently work in transportation on film sets so I got the hook up on cheep cars. Guess I should of let out the racial comments, guess it sidetracked people from giving ideas :( That movie crash is just what I had in mind. Oh well, another hollywood dream crushed. Thanks anyway dpaterso.

There is really no need to crush a story. . . I was not saying that. Consider it practice. . . taking an idea and expounding upon it. If it turns into a good full length script maybe you have some connections who can get it read. Maybe not. Like I repped, writers write. . . something it is good, sometimes it is bad but the bottom line is to write a story. I write stuff that I do not consider publish worthy or production worthy quite often. Whether it be for the fantastical idea (a basically impossible to shoot on an indie level script) or something that is just completely off the wall, I just write. Really, no need to crush anything, just try out different stories and try to finish them until one comes along that you think is worthy of other peoples attention and says something about you as a human and a writer. I think it is a wrong move on your part when I say "Yeah, that might be difficult because of the cost" and you say "oh well, f*%k it." If you like the idea of the story, write it.

I am speaking only as a writer, I am sure there will be other comments based on your previous post, unto that, I have said my piece.

Good luck with everything.

Well, whatever was outrageous was gone by the time I got a chance to read it.

Sic transit gnostic gospels. :tongue

And yes it did sound, 'ow do you zay eet in Engleesh ... "exactly"? ... like David Cronenberg's CRASH.
