All this time, I considered my novel to be horror. I have to admit it's sci-fi. What threw me is I don't have lasers, aliens or spaceships. Are there Sci-fi sub genres?

Yup. It could also be dark fantasy or something else. Maybe pitch it in the SF/F forum and see what folks there think about the category.
