Thanks to input from many of you folks, I've decided to condense my two part story into one novel. "Condense" might be too strong a word since I will likely end up in the 160 000 word range when I'm done and my genre is Fantasy (Epic I think, at the risk of sounding presumptuous). From what I understand about the accepted length of Fantasy novels - even for a first timer like myself - it should still fall within an acceptable range.
I had considered doing a major rewrite to part one (which I'm almost finished) so it would stand alone, but I thought forcing closure would compromise my story. I've done a great deal of editing and couldn't bare the thought of doing a hack job on what I feel is a work that flows extremely well. Since I was worried about part two being too short anyway, I thought why not just combine the two into a single book? It should make the work more marketable and it just feels right. Eon's Door will stand alone!
Looking for your opinions. Thank you Nate for your PM advice (I sent a reply but it got eaten by the computer gods). I may also be looking for any Betas out there who would like to offer feedback on my little tale of Bobby Wright's journey between worlds. Stay tuned for future posts.
