I recently found this forum after looking for a critique partner for quite some time. I am writing YA mystery. I am currently taking time off to write full-time before starting law school in the fall, so I am looking to have a complete, polished mss before then. Therefore, I'm looking to get critiqued along the way.

I have written one novel before that currently resides in the back of my closet and have had three short stories published. With this project, I fully intend to pursue the traditional publishing route.

Genre: YA mystery
Current/projected word count: 15,000/70-80,000
Looking for: Someone who either has a work in progress that they would like critiqued (hopefully we could work together along the way, hold each other's feet to the fire, etc.) or who wouldn't mind mentoring me with specific critiques etc.
Critique style: I am open to critiquing in any way requested. As for what I want: I am fine with brutal honesty. I want this work to be the best it can be. I am looking to make my novel faster paced. I would like style advice--basically anything to make my project better and ready to sell.

Also, I am currently writing about 2,000 words a day (if that helps).

Below is the basic idea behind my project (a more detailed synopsis, etc. is available).

Thank you so much for your consideration! Look forward to hearing from you!

Benny is “special.” Born with Down’s syndrome, he is not the most likely private detective. But after having been accused of his grandmother’s murder, he decides to take on the case. One false alarm by Benny, though, and the police won’t listen to a thing he has to say. That’s when Benny gets a little too deep into the case. His delving into the dark underbelly of South Florida’s retirement community earns him an attempted murder of his own!

In [title undecided], Benny's supposed disabilities become his greatest source of ability.
