Hi.. just a qustion... I have been doing medical transcription for almost 6 years, I have my own business. My client, a Plastic Surgeon, has a web-based system that the hospitals use. He wants me to proof the dictations and get them ready to print and sign. What would the rate be for this? I am not actually typing out the whole dictation, just making corrections.

Thanks,

Torrie

Hi Torri,

My partner and I do translations--Hebrew to Eng., some scientific/medical, she's a PhD in molecular biology. It's harder to edit than it is to write, honest. Ask anyone who's editing their work. Worse yet, you're correcting someone else's mistakes: fact checking, going over spelling, sentence structure, grammar, formatting, etc. The more specalized your niche, the less likely 'just anyone' can do it.

Here we work on the basis of 250 word blocks with a minimum fee and adjust per job.

If you're also doing corrections on the web page itself--that should be extra.

Google 'medical editing fees'. I've seen from 6-9 cents a word.
