So, I'm trying to figure out the correct term for what I am looking for (I did read the help FAQs, I promise). I suppose it is in the mentor category. I am a little over 50,000 words into a first draft of a first novel. I have a very very very intense internal critic who I have managed to sedate by promising that my novel is just for me, no one will read it, no one who reads it will ever know my name, and so on. So I really don't need anyone to promise to read it for me. That would be the kiss of death right about now.

What I do need is someone willing to discuss some of the technical aspects of writing with me. For example, I have been going back and forth between POVs and I would love to be able to explore this with someone I don't know IRL (internal critic thing), who has some grasp of writing novels and interest in hearing me out. My hope is that I could eventually be comfortable enough to be able to talk plot and characterization as well.

As far as genres go, I suppose it falls into the suspense, supernatural, philosophical category, heavy on the characters and with a bittersweet ending. Violence and sex, not for kids or folks who like to avoid that kind of reading.

Anyone? I suspect I will kick myself for this later but at this very moment it seems like a good idea.

Juniper, I am not sure I am the person you are looking for, but I am more than willing to give it a go.

If no one else jumps in (and I'm sure that someone better will), and you think that I might be better than nothing, please email me at [email protected]

Chevbrock,

I appreciate the offer and I'll send you an email later tonight or tomorrow. I have to deal with a few household situations right now (try a freezing cold house for one).

Incidentally, I am very happy to offer similar support back to you. I've read at least a little in just about every genre but romance and I provide very supportive critiques.

Thanks again for responding.
