I've read a few posts from the past about submissions to WPR.
Any recent updates on how long it usually takes from the time you submit your full to hearing from the editor...primarily the Champagne line?

I submitted my first 50 pages to the Last Rose of Summer. I was told my MS had great possiblities, but would be better fit for the Champagne line if I would like to resubmit. The email also came back with some edit suggestions which I agreed with. After making a few changes, I have gone back to square one and resubmitted a new, updated query to the attention of the Champagne line. This was on 2/4. I'm hoping and praying they come back asking for a full.

WE CAN LOVE AGAIN is my hopeful title. 67,000 words

I can't speak for the Champagne line as mine is with English Rose but I know it took almost a full 90 days for my editor to get back to me on the full late last year. I think somewhere on their site it says 90 days once they request the full. I forget :)

I think it was 30 days or so before I got the request for the full from the partial. However, I have also heard the Champagne line is the most backed up.

Thanks for the info. I'll just have to be a little patient, I guess!!

I've been trying to find my original request from WRP, but it's vanished. IIRC, it took me about a week from query to request for full, and a month from my date of submission until I was offered a contract. But it was the middle of last July and my memory's kind of fuzzy.

Mine's a little different as well. I'm a Faery Rose author and my submission took 44 days/1 month and a half from query to full as well.

Funny this thread should pop up. :) I was just going to ask y'all about the wait time on submissions for them. I'm waiting to hear back from TWRP on a partial they requested almost a month ago. I sent it out on 1/16 and no word yet. Patience isn't my strongest suit, I suppose. LOL

This is one of the harder parts about getting published--waiting to hear from the editor.

Now that I've taken up editing I can see just how FAST time slips away and how many things crop up that eat the time, meaning it can be months before I can get back to a writer. Thirty days is a freakin' miracle of speed, though.

Bite the bullet, don't pester them for another month or more, work hard and fast on your next project to keep your head from exploding. The website might say "turnaround in 30 days" but that's often in error.

I turned in a book to an editor who has handled 16 of my other titles. We're not strangers; I have a long track record with that house and she's a fan of my writing. We've had drinks, done lunch, and once just hung out, watching the ducks at PacBell.

She got the book in October and has had three "nudges" from my agent.

I'm still waiting to hear back.

For now--I'm working on three different projects so I don't climb the walls!

Also--it's just good business. If they like the book you send in, then they will want to see what ELSE you have finished!

KEEPING BUSY IS PROBABLY THE BEST IDEA. ACTUALLY, I KEEP READING AND RE-READING MY MS WHICH I SHOULD PROBABLY STOP DOING. I HAVE HAD THOUGHTS ABOUT MY NEXT PROJECT. THIS IS PROBABLY THE TIME TO THINK MORE SERIOUSLY ABOUT IT.

I think the Champagne line is one of the busiest over there. I submitted about a year ago and heard back within the month, but I think they've gotten more popular since them. I know some fellow authors who have waited the full 90 days before hearing anything. Especially since it's the beginning of the year, I think their submissions pile is pretty full.

Work on something else to get your mind off it!

And good luck...fingers crossed for you :)

Yay! I just heard back from an editor at TWRP and they asked for the full!

This woman is absolutely lovely. She complemented me on my query and where I fell short in the synopsis, she pointed it out in a way that made a lot of sense and kept my spirits high. (Like I wouldn't have been anyway considering she was asking to see more?)

Just thought I'd share this news before I do a Snoopy dance on my keyboard. LOL. :snoopy:

Like the others said, depending on the line you can get lightning fast responses, or some that drag on for longer than you want. The Champagne line has been very busy lately. Good luck!

Thank you to all for your input. There must be an angel watching over me because Rhonda Penders sent me a note the other day following up on whether I heard from the Champagne line yet. When I wrote her that I hadn't, Rosann Armstrong of Champagne emailed me yesterday requesting that I send a full. Apparently, she requested this some time ago, but there was an email glich and I never rec'd the request. I've been assigned an editor. Rosi Pennington says I should hear by mid-April if it's a go or not! Wish me luck!!

well, that was fast, lol--good luck. Er...you know Rosi shows up all the time on the tuesday night open chats, right? every week, tuesday--9pm est 6 pst. A lot of the WRP editors are there. You can bounce all your ideas and questions and everything else there. it's very very fast. And there's a lot about were-penguins for some reason. 0_0

That's one of several things I've always loved about The Wild Rose Press; they communicate. Extremely well. I have two books published with them, one a romantic suspense novel and the other a novella that's part of their Legacy of the Celtic Brooch series.

Though Desert Guardian was published over a year ago, I'm still getting reviews. Another great thing about this publisher is the number of reviewers they send their books to. Just today I got a review from Fallen Angel Reviews.

Good luck to everyone waiting on a response from WRP! :hi:

Thanks for your inspiring reply. After doing homework on various publishers, WRP just grabs at me for some reason. From what everyone writes about them, they seem like a great bunch of people to work with. So, if they like my manuscript and offer a contract, I will surely be cracking open the champagne!

they are a great bunch of people. Friendly and easy to get along with. I'm published through them too and I love them to death. The vibes you're getting are probably the "we love you to death" vibes everyone puts off.

If you like--join the yahoo group "the wild rose press" and you can see the whole range of people in love with this publisher. My personal opinion is that they're already a small house since they also do print, and they're getting ready to move on bigger market share.

I have joined the yahoo group as advised and will keep tabs on that as well. That's what I love about forums like this and yahoo groups for people to share. We definitely have a great group of supporters because we realize all the heart and soul that goes into our writing. Our characters become our family. It seems they can't be brought to life until we see the words in print for the whole world to read.
