LOL!

It looks like it's aimed at the younger set, but I'll be watching for sure. :)

Jay, if I'm not mistaken, this is the series that's been talked about for some time. ETA: you're right, they did do 25 episodes in traditional animation between 2003 & 2005 (20 3 minute episodes and 5 12-15 minute episodes). Wikipedia page.

Lucas oversaw the writing but did not script the film or the series, nor does he direct.

This movie opening in August is a lead-in for a new CGI 3-D animated series debuting in the fall. According to IMDB, Lucas is not directing the TV shows, is the executive producer, and is one of five writers credited so far. I couldn't find the movie on IMDB, and a quick look on starwars dot com didn't turn up anything specific about what role Lucas is taking on the film.

Looks interesting. I don't know a lot about the Star Wars world beyond the movies (and a couple of the books I've read), but I didn't realize Annakin had a padawan learner. By episode III we don't see this character so are we to assume the character died during the war?

I did just finish reading a book that was supposed to be a sequel to episode III (it was something like The Rise of Vader...). I suppose since that's the largest gap of time between the movie episodes - roughly 20 years, right? - that's the time I'd be more interested to learn about...

(though I suppose there won't be any more movies, right? - no, episode 3.1, 3.2, 3.3....)

No more live action movies, no.

Didn't Lucas write and direct the first one and write the sequels? The original trilogy was good fun.
He wrote all six movies, and directed all of them except The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

Found this bit about Lucas' involvement in this new project, but it still doesn't say anything about the movie:

Lucas Gets Involved

I'm guessing his involvement with the movie is probably the same as with the series: inventor of the 'universe', executive producer and post-production editor, and story idea writer but not scriptwriter.

If he stays true to what he's always said is his core audience, 'tween'agers, this could be a lot of fun.
