Did anyone see the episode of Stargate Atlantis where the ENTIRE episode was spent with three characters I really don't care about trapped in a HOLE IN THE GROUND!!!

I mean, what kind of science fiction is that? No lasers, no space ships, no aliens cultures or political upheavals. It's like someone had found ten bucks in their pocket and decided to make a show with it. If they can't write anything better than that, they really just shouldn't even try. I'll wait until the strike is over, if this is what they're churning out.

Really, I wish I could get that hour of my life back.

Sorry to rant. I usually like the show, but this was bbbaaaaddddd....

Is this tonight's episode? (in the UK) I'll watch it tomorrow with my lunch, but from the little spoiler description I caught during a voiceover link I thought it sounded quite good - Dr. Keller is one of the trapped characters, right? I'm imagining lots of angst from Ronon about it. I'm a sucker for the romantic subplots. :)

Two steps left of sanity
I noticed they're doing a few character pieces this year, which I enjoy. The ep before that was a character study ep for John Shepard, with a touch of replicators thrown in. Basically, I just liked having a break from the endless onslaught of Replicators and Wraith. And I loved the 'Who would you?' game they played, mentioning Stewart and Colbert! I'm really surprised that clip hasn't been on The Colbert Report yet. ;)

Yeah, I guess the character pieces really annoy me. Especially when people start hooking up. And single location shows really irritate me. Though if Ronin would have been in it, you could disregard everything I just said. :e2brows:

I just saw the episode when Shepard is sent forward 48 thousand years to meet McKay as a hologram. I really enjoyed it.

Stargate SGI has been my favorite for years and I've found Atlantis to also catch my fancy.

Can't stand the Battlestar XXX ripoff!!!!!!

I know a couple spoilers, but I won't mention them here. However, a great source (and not just for Atlantis info) is Joseph Mallozzi's blog. He's one of the writer's, EP's and showrunner of SG: Atlantis.

I haven't seen him give away any major spoilers that would ruin story arcs, but he gives alot of great behind-the-scenes info. Tons (usually daily) behind-the-scene pictures of the actors and sometimes sets/scenes/concept art for technology that will be used on the show, too. And, maybe the best part of it all, he talks about his writing processes as he's writing an episode (no spoilers that I've seen).

And after a show airs, I've seen an entry where he goes through a draft and says what he changed from an early draft to the filmed draft that we watch on TV, and why they went one way or the other. Great insights if you want to write for TV/movies, IMHO.
