Think again.

The body of a man believed to have been dead for nearly 10 years has been found in a flat which was still occupied by a council tenant.[ On a couch!!!!]

We have a murder trial going here where the accused's defence - believe it or not - is that yes, his DNA was found on the body, but he didn't kill her. He simply happened to walk past the house where her blood-stained body was lying in the driveway - and 'took advantage of the situation'.

Yes - 'took advantage' means just that. Yikes.

Agreed. So much so, I wouldn't complain if a Mod deleted this thread or moved it to wherever it belongs - like the trash basket.

:Wha: Well. That's thoroughly disturbing.

oh god, that's some defense.

defiling a corpse is illegal (in most places, I think), but I guess the punishment isn't as bad as for as rape or murder.

Do you think he used the couch? It would be an awkward thorn in his side to sit on the floor all those years to watch TV. The least the body could have done was pull up a floor!

Another room - they shared the flat. No suspicious cicrumstances. Age and mental health appear to be the factors. Sad.

I'm not sure that the defense "I'm not a murderer or rapist, just a necrophiliac" has ever been tried before. It's certainly creative.

If a human thinks of it, than IT can become possible.

Sweet! I'm thinking I can be invisible and fly. :D

(sorry, don, I know you were being serious - I just couldn't resist!)

And someone was living with the dead guy on the couch?

"Pass the remote. Oh, I forgot..."

Under the Criminal Code of Canada, this falls under the category of

"offering an indignity to a dead body"

I mean, how quaintly Victorian is that?
