Okay, we're all writers, so I dare you -- one sentence to express the essence of Christianity. Here's my attempt:

God is Love.

Neat thread idea!

I'm not going to be original here, but use Galatians 2:20 for a sentence:

"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me; and the life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

It's awfully hard to improve on John 3:16. It's got it all: God's love, the price he was willing to pay, the gift he offers us.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, so that whoever believes in him will not perish, but have eternal life. (Janet's hodge-podge version.)

Christianity: A label used to identify a loose conglomeration of those who purport some degree of belief in Jesus Christ.

Oh, I forgot to say, the original question seemed to speak to Christianity, not what is a Christian.

I'm going to cheat here because I can't improve on this.

That's what came to mind when I saw this thread title. :)

Ah, mine is close to Althrasher. I thought of it before I read hers, though.

Love Christ, and love others.

Another one-sentence from Scripture (I'll try to be profound later)

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." -- II Corinthians 5:17 KJV

Christianity is the practicing of the attempt to be Christ-like.

Christian? An individual who attempts to be Christ-like.

okay, here, I'll bite-- here's what we Orthodox call the Paschal tropar, which is kind of the theme song of the resurrection:

Christ is Risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs bestowing life.

Aww...it's just adorable how people will reveal their extreme intolerance and dislike on a positive thread. Well played, Judg.

Somehow I missed this one on my first read-through. That's a wonderful quote.
