I'm not really sure if 'encourager' is even a word, but I'm going to go ahead and use it anyway.
I'm an eighteen year old english major at a ridiculously small college in Maryland. I've been writing ever since I can remember, and I've been working on some incarnation of this novel for the past year and a half. Last year my creative writing teacher served as my mentor, but since I graduated I haven't been able to find anyone willing to help me stay on the right track.
The novel is kind of mythology based (Orpheus and Eurydice) but it's a loose basis, if that. It's basically about a young man living in the Netherlands who loses his fiance very suddenly and winds up making the spontaneous decision to move to Wisconsin. The plot then shifts to a narration like in the Great Gatsby (I can't remember the technical word for it) where he finds himself observing the relationship between a blind boy and a bitter college girl.
I'm halfway through right now (around 25,000 words) and I'm just looking for someone that can help me get through the second half and recommend plot changes that I should make. There are parts of it that I'm uncertain about, and I could really use assurance that it's all in my head or advice about how I could make it better. I think I mostly have the grammar taken care of, but I could always use more help with that too.
Post here, PM me, or shoot me a message on AIM- my screenname is the same as my username.
Thanks!
