Who do you want to see when you get to heaven?

III started a great topic on annoying people in Heaven.

I was going to post off-topic regarding this, but then I decided to make another thread.

So, does anyone else have a mental list of people they want to "look up" when they get to heaven? Here's mine:

1) My grandpa. He died when I was six but I remember him so clearly, and he was such a good man that his memory still lives on in our family. Every once in a while my mom remarks how I have a lot in common with him and he would have really liked me. Also, I see him every time I look in the mirror because he gave his jawline and eyebrows to the entire family.

2) Samuel Johnson. I want to see him happy. In life, he was so bowed down by depression and the belief that he had wasted so much of what God had given him... I want to see him when Jesus says, "I know you did the best you could. Stop being so hard on yourself. I love you."

3) Cristopher Columbus. For all of his screwups, he seems to have been such a man of intense, almost illogical faith. From what I've read, I believe he really tried to do the best he could. I want to find out what he was really like, who he really was.

And just for curiosity's sake:

4) Alexander Hamilton

5) George Washington

My wife's father. He was a nuclear physicist before he contracted spinal meningitis when my wife was 5 and he spent the next 7 years as an invalid before passing away. I started hanging out with her about two years later and I've spent all these years hearing stories about what a compassionate, godly man he was. I can't wait to shake his hand and say "thank you for giving me the love of my life."

When I get to heaven I want to see JESUS of course! My Pa, Pauline (An older lady I grew up in church with who always baked me teacakes), my husband's granny, Daniel - I definitly want to hear about those lions. Oh and Ester. I'm going to think about some more . . .

The first thing I want to see when I get to heaven is all my pets running up to be with me again. It just wouldn't be heaven if I didn't have my animals.

Wow. Believe it or not, I've never stopped to think about it. I'm a very here and now kind of person.

I suppose my heroes, Corrie ten Boom and William Wilberforce. And the people who contributed directly to my being there. But I think it will be fascinating to meet all the people I didn't know about and hear their stories.

This would be such a huge list of all the potential people I'd like to talk to from history past and all that.. so I'll treat this as a "Who would I want to see the MOMENT I step through the Pearly Gates" question...

... Nope. Answer is still "George Burns." I'd like to know God has a sense of humor, and that Heaven will be, for me at least, that kind of place where a slightly offbeat sentimentality will not go astray.

After George comes the friends and family I'd lost too soon.

Pebbles, the family dog I grew up with. She's been gone for over 25 years but I still think of her and dream of her.

Also my mum's parents who died when she was a little girl. I'd love to meet them. Also my dad's grandparents and great grandparents whom I've heard so much family history about.

After the usual list, first and formeost my younger brother. He was mentally retarded and (shame on me) I always assumed he just sort of drifted along in his own little world. At his funeral a number of people from the sheltered workshop where he worked and in his assisted living center spoke of the impact he had on their day-to-day lives. He was much more than I ever gave him credit for and now I see him in a whole new light. The thought that in heaven he won't be handicapped is an exciting one.

Quite the contrary, it would prove that God is not as bigoted and closed minded as his creations.

More importantly, on a personal level it would definitely demonstrate God’s ability to forgive.

All my pets. I know they'll all be there.

There's the story of the cat going to heaven. St Peter gives him the grand tour & tells the cat ask for anything he needs. The cat is fine, everything is copasetic.

Later, three mice go to heaven and get their tour. When asked what they want they tell St Peter: rollerskates.

A few days later St Peter sees the cat and asks how it's going.

"Fine, and those meals on wheels were great!"

What an interesting question. Well, of course I would love to see/meet everyone, but if I really had to narrow it down:

My grandpa who died a couple of years before I was born. I've heard he was a very kind and loving person. My mom loved him very, very, very much. I can tell that she still misses him greatly.

My father who died when I was just 6 months old. I only have a few pictures of him and I together actually.

And for fun, I would love to meet Lucille Ball. That kooky, wacky lady

Do you ever wonder if people in Heaven are as they were (age wise) when they died or if maybe we kind of revert to a time in our life that we simply adored?

I'd also like to see all my old dogs, just so I can rub it in to all the people who told me that God only lets people into heaven. Yeah, I know. I got issues.
