Anybody see Breaking Bad?

I loved it, great lead character and actor, and who knows what pandora's box of misadventures they can write up for him! Looks like a fun series!

Off to a good start I think. I saw the 'making of' and was looking forward to it.

I liked what I saw last night. He's a far cry from the Dad on Malcolm in the Middle, but then maybe that's what led him to this.

There were a couple of these threads hanging around, and I thought I'd resurrect the one with the most posts.

Season 2 has just started. This season will be 13 episodes instead of last season's 7 episodes.

I didn't get into this show until I watched them all on On Demand a couple weeks ago.

This show is the bee's knees, and it is cast perfectly. I like everything about it. I don't know how he's going to explain to his wife what happened next week, but I can't wait to find out.

love love love this show. The main characters are perfectly cast.

And I'm really starting to like Hank.

The show is amazing. I watched all last season and have been anxiously waiting for the new season to start. It's hard to describe why it's so good...the screenwriters have a way of never letting a boring moment happen...they always get the characters into the right amount of trouble and have them mount clever escapes. They've also developed the characters in such a way that you really want to know what happens to them.

I agree--this show is great. Great writing, great acting, great direction. And totally gripping. I get so worked up with the drama that I can't go to bed afterwards. Or as my better half says, 'This sh*t is gripping!'

I also really like the fact that it is one of few shows that stars a character with a disability (Walter Jr) whose disability is not the character's entire reason for existence. And it's also one of very few shows with a character with a disability who is PLAYED by an actor with a disability.

One episode left in Season 2. Season 3 has been greenlit.

This is probably my favorite show on TV now, so I'll be sad when it's gone.

I was just thinking it is unacceptable that no one here watches Breaking Bad. It is, without a doubt, my favourite show on TV now. But I can see it's not for everyone. I can hardly bear to watch some of the scenes myself and I've always been a fan of dark stories.

Breaking Bad has turned into my weekly dose of addictive entertainment. Every character has something crazy going on. Oddly enough, the scene with "Tortuga" and the tortoise really sticks with me. The plot can't not go up in flames at the end with the DEA brother-in-law and the meth-head partner. Mr. White himself seems to have just crossed over into an interesting moral gray area regarding Junkie Jane...

I would say he crossed from a gray area into a pitch black one.

Wanted to see it. Remember thinking that it looked good, then forgot about it. What was it about, again?

Where's the love for Breaking Bad?

It's easily one of the top 3 shows of recent years. I cramed all 3 seasons last week and am still coming down from it. Simply outstading--the acting, writing, production, everything.

Deserves all the praise and awards, but still more people need to watch it.

Agree that this is a fantastic show.

Did you notice? No particular love thing going on (his wife, while an important character, is hardly noticed or given much TV face time -- no particular ugliness in the characters -- no high profile, tivial moments -- just an intelligent, perceptive man on a search about whom we're not sure of his motives and who always has it together(even though I often don't think so) -- a guy who I think has some plan to be revealed as the show goes on --- a man who despite being forced to do the job he does, loves the challenge and work.

I love the show because the characters seem real and they aren't your typical hollywood type characters. This results in a plot that you often can't anticipate but still feels real and not gimmicky

Overall, I like the show, though I do get annoyed by the characters on occassion.

I hate that Walt has taken it upon himself to save Jesse. But it makes sense given his ego, narcisism, and quirks.

Jesse is important to him on many levels. There is the whole "I can save him" motiff, then there is also the compliment to his ego, he needs to teach someone. He also needs to have someone beneath him so he can feel superior.

Interesting story. You would think that Walt would have been in geek heaven with the other nerdy sidekick right? Well, wrong.

I've come across the real life version of this. We had an older scientist who thought he was top shit in his field. We then hired another scientist, younger in his 30s, who was a super nice guy and was really smart.

THe older scientist was working on this new technology and was stuck at a wall, he just couldn't solve a technical hurdle.

New scientist works with him and figures it out.

Old scientist goes ballastic and has the new scientist fired claiming that "I can't work with him".

THe new scientist was super likeable and had zero ego, he didn't even try to take credit for his work (though we all knew it was him who solved the problem).

Anyways, old scientist went to Executive management (which of course they all thought he walked on water) and he said that if they didn't fire the new scientist he was going to quit.

So, just like that Executive management fires the new scientist despite protests of our entire team (15 people, fellow scientists, engineers, and managers)

Incidentally, the old scientist was unable to solve the next technical hurdle. After six months of banging his head against the wall, he quits to save face and goes to work for some other corporation.

We then rehire the new scientist and he solves the problem in one month. Incidentally, the six month delay cost our company $90 Million dollars LOL.

My husband LOVES this show. One reason is because he was born and raised in Albuquerque and they film a lot on location. He likes In Plain Sight too though they film less on location.

The characters definately take Breaking Bad to the next level. One episode you may HATE a character, and the next episode you may LOVE them, or at least understand them. Breaking Bad makes it seem so smooth and easy.

The writing is incredibly tight, and you can never predict which direction the show will go.

My only complaint is that although there are touches of dark comedy here and there, it needs more. The third season seemed to drop some of its dark humour for melodrama.

My only complaint about the 3rd season was a throwaway episode, the one with "The Fly".

That entire episode was a giant waste, didn't advance the plot or story at all IMO.
