Chicken Soup for the Soul is looking for stories for three new animal books! Excerpt from an e-mail I received this morning:

Next, our new "Ultimate" series debuts in September 2008 with the first three titles featuring our favorite four-legged companions; dogs, cats, and horses. This new series will include full-color photos, great stories, and must-know info on each topic. ​

Although the deadline for material on these titles is March 15, 2008, we appreciate submissions coming in early.​

Below, you'll find links to the Web sites for chapter outlines and all the guidelines, compensation, and submission information you need. I hope the creative juices get flowing and you'll send something along.​

They accept reprints, so I don't see why blog entries would be a problem. You might consider taking the stories off your blog while they're in the submission line-up. Also, you could drop Chicken Soup an e-mail and ask. Here's the contact info for questions:

Thanks for this - I just got a rejection from a magazine and could turn around and submit it immediately to this. Gotta love that online submission thing, too!

The last time I was published in a Chicken Soup book must be about 4 years ago. Hopefully, Cici my little puddycat can inspire a story or two.

Hey - I just got an email from these guys with some paperwork to sign about the story I submitted to the dog book. They say this means I am a 'finalist,' that they haven't definitely decided what's in the book yet, so, not a sure thing. But still, pretty cool.

Thanks, because I would never in a million years have thought to submit to this or even known about it on my own.
