Hey,

I've been using a new tool (a new procrastination??) to help develop my characters and thought I'd pass it along:

http://www.simpsonsmovie.com/main.html (click "Create your simpsons avatar")
http://www.sp-studio.de/
www.heromachine.com

As a way of visualizing the characters, I've been using these new online character generators, where you can create avatars with a wide variety of visual options. Some are better or more useful than others, depending on what kind of novel you're writing, but it's been helpful for me to have a more clear picture in my head. At times, it's helped me figure out key aspects of the character's emotional development as well.

Hope it's helpful (but careful, it's a great way to waste time, too!)

Its better to envision your char without these kinda methods, the more options the more mixed feeling you will end up getting about your char which drains your time away.

If you really need a focus point for a character I would look for shows on tv or movie of a char that would relate to your char and then use that as your example... be less mind boggling IMO
