I feel it basically was written in an attempt to save face--as you said, a hollow piece of PR crap.
I find it very interesting that the article actually agrees with and supports the main premise of my piece: "...while library staff members are available to provide help and support to children and to ensure that they have a safe and secure environment in which to read and learn, it is ultimately the parents, guardians and caregivers who are responsible for the safety and supervision of children at all times."
This may fare well with the public, but I still know what happened that day. I'm curious to see what kind of letters the paper receives this week.
